Internet Multiplayer
Play with friends anywhere. The GM's device still runs the game; players join with a Join Code through the Game Master server, which only passes messages along.
- For everyone
Important: Nothing is stored online
The server only passes messages between the GM and the players while you play. The game and its saves stay on the GM's device.
How to use it
- GM: when starting a session, turn on Internet under Who can join. Or, in a running session, open the menu and choose Host Internet Game, then Open Internet Lobby.
- The Multiplayer panel shows the Join Code (like ABCD-2345), whether the lobby is Online, and how many players are in.
- Player: on the home screen tap Join Game, open the Internet tab, type your name and the code, and tap Join.
Step by step
- GM: start the session with Internet switched on.
- Read the Join Code to your players, or tap Copy Code and send it.
- Player: Join Game → Internet, enter the code (with or without the dash, any case), then Join.
- Choose your character. You join the session as it is right now, even in the middle of a fight.
- GM: Close Lobby stops new players joining over the internet; Save & Quit ends it for everyone.
Reconnecting
- If your connection drops, the app reconnects by itself and catches up. Your character, and your turn, are kept.
- If the GM's connection drops, players see "Host disconnected" and wait; play carries on when the GM is back.
- Leaving and joining again with the same code puts you back on your character.
Troubleshooting
- "No game has that Join Code": check the code with the GM. A code stops working when the GM closes the lobby or saves and quits.
- "Newer" or "older" Game Master: whoever has the older app updates it; both must run the same version.
- "This device is offline" or "Couldn't reach the game server": check Wi-Fi or mobile data and try again.
- Host disconnected: the GM's device lost its connection or the app was closed. Wait, or ask the GM.
- Pictures look plain at first: custom portraits and maps arrive in the background and appear when they are ready.
- If the game server restarts, the GM's game gets a new code; the GM gives it to the players again.
Important rules
- The GM's device is in charge, exactly as on the LAN: it rolls the dice for its creatures, checks every move and saves the game.
- Players only receive what their character may see.
- A Join Code works only while the GM's lobby is open.
Common questions
Can LAN and internet players be in one game?
Yes. Keep both switched on; the player list shows how each one is connected.
Does it work on mobile data?
Yes, on any connection that reaches the internet.
How do I remove a player?
In the Multiplayer panel open the player's menu and choose Remove, or Ban for this session to stop them rejoining.
